KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) stated on Friday that it will run in the by-elections for the empty National Assembly (NA) seats.
MQM-P leader and former Karachi mayor Waseem Akhtar declared at a news conference that the party will run in the by-elections for the empty seats.
He stated that the MQM Pakistan is an ally of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), but decisions would be made by the party’s leadership; if the mayor of Jamaat-e-Islami or the PTI arrives, the PPP will not let it to function.
The MQM leader requested that the chief justice take suo moto note of the alleged involvement in Sindh’s local government (LG) elections. He also hoped that the MQM Karachi-requests P’s would be addressed seriously by the relevant authorities.
Waseem Akhtar stated that the party established an agreement with the PTI and later with the PPP to tackle the city’s problems.
He stated that the incoming mayor will have no administrative or budgetary authority. The mayor’s hands will be tied for four years.
He voiced his rage at stakeholders for the unjust treatment of Karachi residents, stating that the city has been divided into seven districts and that there are rumours of separating Karachi into two divisions, but Karachi should be a division.
